For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: In returning [to Me] and resting [in Me] you shall be saved; in quietness and in [trusting] confidence shall be your strength. But you would not, And you said, No! We will speed [our own course] on horses! Therefore you will speed [in flight from your enemies]! You said, We will ride upon swift steeds [doing our own way]! Therefore will they who pursue you be swift, [so swift that] One thousand of you will flee at the threat of one of them; at the threat of five you will flee till you are left like a beacon or a flagpole on the top of a mountain, and like a signal on a hill. And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]! [John 14:3, 27; II Cor. 12:9; Heb. 12:2; I John 3:16; Rev. 3:5.] O people who dwell in Zion at Jerusalem, you will weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you. (‭Isaiah‬ ‭30‬:‭15-19‬ AMP)

Wow! Can you just imagine the love and mercy of God?

When you’re shutting Him out and running far away from Him, He keeps seeking close after you. And when your own stubbornness has made you an icon of shame, failure, human depravity etc, He was patient enough to follow you close and lovingly to this point, AND ALSO TO DO SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE YOU SEE HIM, almost like a little child being ridiculously funny trying to get someone’s attention. O Lord My God! And once you turn to Him, once you call to Him, He quickly has mercy on you, He saves you and removes your shame. He glorifies you. Can you imagine this love? The Father’s love is perfect and has nothing in it to make you afraid of coming to Him.

You reading this, you may have come to such a point in your life where all hope seems lost, and tomorrow seems impossible, I want you to know that this is God lovingly making Himself and His love visible to you again. Come to Him NOW!

Jesus Christ is God’s message to you, believe in Him TODAY!

Before we look at the second kind of heart, God wants you to remember this. By the grace of God, you are not like those whose heart is like a wayside. You are not wise in your own eyes and you do not think more highly of yourself than you ought to in the presence of God. You are not like those who go to God when everything else fails, God is your first choice, you have no alternative, God is your only choice. You look to God for solution and answer from day one.

Even when you are carried away by the deceitful tendencies of your heart to take a path that is contrary to the will of God, you are not stubborn before the Spirit of truth, when He convicts you of being wrong. You are like a child before your Heavenly Father, He leads you by the hand out of the darkness, and you always follow Him without struggle. Even when you struggle, you eventually give in to His righteousness and love.

You have nothing to be proud of in yourself, except the manifestations of God in you. You are like the wise man who when he found out about the treasures hidden in a certain field, went and sold all he had and bought this certain field. You believe in the immeasurable value of being like Christ. That’s why regardless of the mistakes you make, you never give in to the suggestions of the enemy to be yourself, you are ever hungry and always striving in the Spirit to become Christ.

The world holds no satisfaction for you, your joy is in the will of God. You meditate in His word all the time. The more you do the more you see who you really are. You say to yourself, can this be? Could it be that I am an extension of Christ? Is it really true that God’s will is that through my mind He will think, through my mouth He will speak and through my life He will live, making me an incarnation of Christ? Am I really Christ? Yes!

But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. (Isaiah 43:1, 2 NKJV)

One of my earthly teachers, Poju Oyemade once said that for some reason it appears you don’t get things perfectly right the first time or in the beginning. Now I see why he made that comment, and I agree with him because the scriptures teach so.

The name Jacob and Israel refer to the same person, but they have two different meanings. One of them, the name Jacob was given to this individual when he was first born, or created by God, and it means supplanter, which is to take the place of another through scheming.

In the second statement following, God decides to use a different word, instead of “create” He uses “formed”, which is an intentional effort to achieve something else from something by design. Then God also calls the same individual by a different name, Israel, which means “he will rule as God”.

Then God says to him, I have defined you by a name that will set you apart from the rest of humanity and set you on high where everyone will see my glory in you. Are you trying to define yourself on your own, or are you letting the world, or your friends, or the wrong things define you? Let God define you, let Him give you your right name.

This man’s first name suggests someone who will only become something that someone else already is by scheming his way and conning people off their rightful positions. He was a con man. He had no dream, no vision for himself and the only future he could see was that of others. But when God worked on him again the second time, He made him into something extraordinary. God gave him a dream and a vision, and his life became his own.

A lot of people think that holding unto their lives makes it their own, no, if you hold unto the life you think is your own you will lose it, but when you let God have it, He makes it beautiful and hands it back to you, better and much more valuable. He who holds his life will lose it but he who loses it to God will gain it.

I don’t know what it is you’re going through right now, I don’t know where you are in life right now, but whatever and wherever, God will like you to know these two things; one, allow Him to define you, surrender your life to Him by letting His word guide you in all things. God wants to use you to prove to the world that the things and people they write off as nothing can become the best of the earth in His hands.

No matter what it is you are fighting and struggling with right now, don’t give up, just surrender to Him, He will make you the man that goes through water and fire and comes out on top. I was there, so I am telling you from experience. God replaces wet eyes with wide lips. Your life may be like Jacobs right now, undefined, purposeless, falling apart and all that, but guess what? God isn’t done with you yet, He will finish the work He started in you.

When a potter takes a lump of clay and slaps it on the table, a clay jug doesn’t just appear. He takes time to work the clay, eventhough all that is needed to produce the jug is already on the table, the potter will skillfully work the lump of clay into a jug. That was what God did with creation. It was first void and without form, but then He began to work on it till it became what He wanted it to be. God is still working on you, so don’t get off that table till He’s done with you. You have no idea what He wants you to turn out as, it’s beautiful, I tell you the truth.
