In our last conversation, we said that righteousness is not necessarily an act, it is the decision to perform the act, a decision which is based on truth. So, in essence what we are saying is that righteousness is faith, just as it is written, that “…with the heart one believes unto righteousness,…” (Romans 10:10 NKJV) Then we said that the act itself is what the scripture calls ‘life.’ And we did also say, that ‘life’ here means the active, experienced and manifest nature of God, which is fundamentally and characteristically love.

In the same way, we also said that the sinful acts people do, is not what scripture calls sin, it is the decision they make in their heart to perform the act, a decision which is based on what their senses tell them. In essence, sin is hatched from fear. Concerning that, Jesus came to destroy the power of “the fear of death.” For just as the scripture says,”…desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” (James 1:14, 15 ESV). The act itself is death.

Take a few moments to think deeply about life, especially your own and then that of others, meditate on what we are talking about, and see, that every evil act upon the earth is hatched from fear, which is ignited by the senses. See also that every act of goodness or kindness, or of any of the characteristics of love, are acts hatched from faith, from decisions made on behalf of truth. Allow your mind to run through the scriptures, remembering passages that throw more light unto this, when you find one, stop, and ponder on it for a while and see what else it links you to. If a scripture pops up at you, murmur it to yourself, repeat it to yourself, allow yourself to be soaked and submerged in them, and you will come up anew. It is important that you do this, and I will advise you to do it when your mind is relaxed, and where you will not be disturbed, where there is no noise. Jesus usually did this in the early hours of the morning, I’ll recommend that too. This is what real prayer is about, this is what meditation is.

The essence of Christianity, is not ‘goose pimples’ or the expectation to go to a heaven somewhere, eventhough there is a heaven somewhere. The essence of Christ is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” This is talking about that glory that people give God when they experience Him through your lifestyle. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. The power and light to do this comes through prayerful meditation. It is not barely enough to just read the scripture, you must let the truth search your innermost parts through prayerful meditation.
