HOW TO PRACTICALLY OPERATE IN GOD’S SHOES (PT. 76)

We established from the scriptures, concerning the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light, that here in this world, just as God manifested in human form as Christ, the “kingdom of darkness” manifests as life governed by the senses, and the “kingdom of light” manifests as life governed by faith. We saw that the senses are a prison where the natural man experiences alienation from the reality of God, that those who live by their senses, cannot see God, cannot understand God, and cannot make God real to others in any way. They only produce ‘death’ in the world around them. Their thoughts, decisions, words and actions are void of love, and are inspired by fear, based on what the senses can relate to.

We saw also from scriptures, using as shadow, the life of a human being from birth to adulthood, how people move from the life in Eden, to the life outside of Eden, how people move from love, to fear, as they grow to accept the deceitfulness of sin in place of truth. We saw from scriptures, that every decision we make in favour of our natural senses, is sin. The parable of the sower talks about the seed that is choked to death by the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of sin. The carnal satisfaction that people experience when they satisfy their senses, give them the illusion that everything is ok. People are deceived and led away from God by these illusions.

And then, as a result of this, people get to the point, where this deception becomes the only reality they know, their hearts become hardened, that the seed of righteousness, which is God’s word, cannot grow on it. Actually it is a veil that blocks access into their spirit, the same cherub that stands guard at the entrance to Eden. Because of this, their ‘eyes’ become blinded and cannot see the ‘appearances’ of God in their day to day living: their ‘ears’ become deaf to the ‘callings and trumpet sounds’ of God.

It is impossible, for anyone in this situation to save oneself. The scripture calls satan, the ‘mighty and terrible one,’ to whom fallen man, is a lawful captive. This means, that satan has divine legal right over the life of fallen man, holding them helplessly bound with the strongholds of ignorance, fear and idolatry. We shall talk about this more tomorrow, and then we shall get to talk about what the apostle meant when he said that only Christ can save him from this body of sin.

HOW TO PRACTICALLY OPERATE IN GOD’S SHOES (PT. 75)

In our last conversation, we said that righteousness is not necessarily an act, it is the decision to perform the act, a decision which is based on truth. So, in essence what we are saying is that righteousness is faith, just as it is written, that “…with the heart one believes unto righteousness,…” (Romans 10:10 NKJV) Then we said that the act itself is what the scripture calls ‘life.’ And we did also say, that ‘life’ here means the active, experienced and manifest nature of God, which is fundamentally and characteristically love.

In the same way, we also said that the sinful acts people do, is not what scripture calls sin, it is the decision they make in their heart to perform the act, a decision which is based on what their senses tell them. In essence, sin is hatched from fear. Concerning that, Jesus came to destroy the power of “the fear of death.” For just as the scripture says,”…desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” (James 1:14, 15 ESV). The act itself is death.

Take a few moments to think deeply about life, especially your own and then that of others, meditate on what we are talking about, and see, that every evil act upon the earth is hatched from fear, which is ignited by the senses. See also that every act of goodness or kindness, or of any of the characteristics of love, are acts hatched from faith, from decisions made on behalf of truth. Allow your mind to run through the scriptures, remembering passages that throw more light unto this, when you find one, stop, and ponder on it for a while and see what else it links you to. If a scripture pops up at you, murmur it to yourself, repeat it to yourself, allow yourself to be soaked and submerged in them, and you will come up anew. It is important that you do this, and I will advise you to do it when your mind is relaxed, and where you will not be disturbed, where there is no noise. Jesus usually did this in the early hours of the morning, I’ll recommend that too. This is what real prayer is about, this is what meditation is.

The essence of Christianity, is not ‘goose pimples’ or the expectation to go to a heaven somewhere, eventhough there is a heaven somewhere. The essence of Christ is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” This is talking about that glory that people give God when they experience Him through your lifestyle. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. The power and light to do this comes through prayerful meditation. It is not barely enough to just read the scripture, you must let the truth search your innermost parts through prayerful meditation.

HOW TO PRACTICALLY OPERATE IN GOD’S SHOES (PT. 74)

To be spiritually alive is to operate in life from your spirit, and to be spiritually dead is to operate by your senses or flesh. The reason why sin is damning to man is because every sinful act satisfies the desires of the flesh. You will notice, that in the Old Testament, when God was giving the laws, He made a way for one who kills another accidentally to go free; the cities of refuge. But there was no pardon for pre-meditated murder. The reason is because one was done to satisfy the flesh, but the other was not. Sin is deadly to man because it feeds the flesh, and whatever you feed, grows. As the scripture puts it, “…each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” (James 1:14, 15 ESV).

Death means lifelessness, it is a metaphor for whatever does not have God in it, whatever does not have the nature of God, which is love. Now, let’s pay very careful attention to what I’m about to say. The scripture says this, “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16 ESV). Yesterday we had a conversation about being converted to become as a little child. Now, the scripture above literally means that, ‘life’ comes when one who believes the truth, replaces what they have learnt from the natural senses with what the truth teaches. For example, when somebody wrongs you, the senses has taught us over the years to pay the person back or revenge, but truth says forgive, that is the way of love, and if we believe that truth, and replace revenge with forgiveness, life is what happens. Righteousness is not necessarily the act, it is the decision to do the act, which is based on the truth. The act itself is life.

In the same way, the sinful acts people do, is not what scripture calls sin, it is the decision they make in their heart to perform the act, based on what their senses tell them, that is what scripture calls sin,”…desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” (James 1:14, 15 ESV). The act itself is death. This is why Jesus came telling us that a person who lusts after a woman in their heart, has already sinned. This does not mean that the temptation, which is the desire to sin, is sin in itself, it is the decision to satisfy that desire that is sin.

HOW TO PRACTICALLY OPERATE IN GOD’S SHOES (PT. 73)

Let us look at another shadow of the workings of the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light. Let’s look at the natural life of a human being.
A child is born with innocence and love, full of faith and trust in the parents. The child will believe everything it is told, there will be no place for doubt. The child knows only love, no hatred. The child is acquainted with happiness and joy, no depressing or mournful moments, always eager to learn, with a teachable spirit. A child never thinks of how to provide for itself or how to save for the rainy day. A child looks up to the parents for everything. Whatever a child needs, it will ask, and expect to receive. What you find in a child is pure love, not fear. It is that love that attract people to them.

But then, as the child grows, it begins to learn limitations and fear. The world around it teaches it that some things are not to be touched, some places are not to be approached, some feats are not to be attempted and some adventures are a no no. Some questions are not to be asked and some things are to be taken just as they are. Don’t try to be a hero, don’t dream big, just cut your coat according to the amount of cloth you have. Don’t play big, play safe, etc. Over time, as these lies are repeated to the child, the child forms a new reality baseline, a new premise for judgement, and learns to use it’s senses as it’s most dependable tools of navigation in life. This opens the door for that basic survival instinct to take over, unleashing fear as the trusted ally and mentor, and locking itself outside the life of love.

At this point, the works of the flesh, or the works of darkness have taken a firm hold on the young man, and all those lies that he or she has been fed for years have become what the scriptures call a stronghold in his or her mind. These strongholds are they, whose shadow was cast in the Old Testament as idols, strange gods and abominable images. The young man is now living in the fear of these lies, acting in response to them and trembling before their power, and by that giving them glory as if they are anything, ultimately giving to them, that which is meant for the True God. In place of faith, he bears doubt, in place of love, fear. He or she looks not unto God, but unto what his or her hands can produce. They are completely under bondage to satan through their conformity to the flesh.

Indeed, one is not meant to remain a baby perpetually, however, one must remain a child perpetually. That is why Jesus says you cannot enter the kingdom of God, except you are converted and become like a little child again. When you are driving a car on gear one, and that gear level reaches it’s peak, you don’t get out of the car to continue on foot, you simply select a higher gear. When your earthly parents can no longer meet your needs and answer your questions, you were designed to shift to your Heavenly Father. That’s why parents are taught by scripture to train up children in the way they should go, so that when they grow up, they will stick to it.

But this has not been the case. Rather we have gone ahead to let ourselves be taken captives and prisoners by fear and the flesh. That is the reason Jesus talks about being ‘born again’ and being converted into a little child again. Jesus is liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; (Isaiah 61:1 ESV)

HOW TO PRACTICALLY OPERATE IN GOD’S SHOES (PT. 72)

The scriptures tell us that no man has ever seen God, it says “No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” (John 1:18 NKJV)
Let’s understand this scripture properly, nobody has ever seen or can clearly describe the entity called God, people over the ages have seen and encountered God only through the manifestation of His word, through the truth made manifest, Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the manifestation of truth, He is the word made flesh. His existence is the unfolding of truth. The implication of this to you is this; people will not know God until you show them what He looks like by living out the truth. This is what it means to literally give your life to Christ and live for Him. This is what it means to be a witness of Christ, to show by your life, the reality of the truth. It is not about ‘talking’, it’s about ‘being.’ You have to ‘be’ before you can ‘talk’ effectively. Check the instances in scripture where there was verbal communication of the gospel, you will see that there was first a ‘living’ of the gospel before it. It is about being “a living letter.” For example, when people see you walk in love toward those around you, they see what God is like, for God is love.

In the same way, satan makes himself seen, felt and known in this world when people live their lives based on lies and falsehood. For example, because of fearful things that has happened, people have been advised never to stop on the highway to offer help to strangers, with the generalised judgement that everyone waving you down on the highway is probably up to no good. So, what happens is that no matter how convincing the strangers need for help is, people will drive past them. Now, this is normal for a man living in the flesh, after all, the only way he can judge the situation is through his senses. You won’t blame him, but nevertheless, through his actions, he has given the evil one the opportunity to express himself.

God makes Himself felt in this world through the faith of people who have seen the truth, their faith in the truth works through love to produce life. The scriptures say that faith works through love. Jesus, which is the manifestation of the truth says, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” He went about doing good, so should you because you have the spirit of Christ in you. Satan makes himself felt in this world through the ignorance of people who are blinded from the truth, the frustration they feel in that darkness works through fear to produce death. Life, as we have seen means experiencing God through the lives of people who make the truth real by living it out, and death is to be starved of the goodness and love of God by the actions of those who out of fear perpetuate wickedness in the world.
(YOU ARE AS CHRIST IS. Ephesians 2:13-16, Galatians 2:18-20)

HOW TO PRACTICALLY OPERATE IN GOD’S SHOES (PT. 71)

Ephesians 5, Romans 13, Galatians 5

The ‘sense life’ is a prison for the fallen man. That is where the scriptures describe as the kingdom of darkness(a state of existence characterised by inability to recognise and understand the things of God). When operating in the natural senses, man is blinded from the truth. Life in the flesh, is blindness to the knowledge of God. That is why the scriptures talk about eyes that cannot see and ears that cannot hear. This is the kingdom where satan rules, where men operate according to their physical senses. It is the seat of human wisdom, which challenges everything that cannot be perceived or figured out with the natural senses, of which it is written about those who dwell in it, that “the carnal mind is enmity with God, it cannot please God, neither can it know God.” That is inability to both act in God’s shoes or see and receive truth, which is what it means to live in darkness, or to be spiritually dead.

In the course of our conversations, we will realise that just as God makes Himself real to us through the truth in our spirit, so also satan makes himself real to us through lies, or through knowledge that oppose truth. Satan makes contact with us through our senses, because he was thrown out of Eden too and condemned to feed on the earth. Satan feeding on the earth, means that satan finds expression through the flesh. Take a critical look on the world, everything we accuse the devil of is born out of the flesh, evil is the work of the man operating in the senses; wickedness, wars, poverty, suffering, hatred, intolerance, jealousy, etc. These are all manifestations of fear, described by scripture as the works of the flesh. In this world where we live, God can never be more real to you than the truth you know and obey(love), and satan can never be more real to you than the lies about life you know and obey(fear).

The scripture makes a statement; “Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” (Revelation 12:12 NKJV). This literally means; what a terrible thing to live in the flesh, for satan has been given authority to rule in and through the senses of men. Those who operate by their senses do the works of darkness. They work the works of darkness and also experience the stings of death. If you try to show them the way, because they are blind, they will be afraid to do as you say. Then they stumble, fall, knock something over or hit a pillar, until their blindness is healed. So scripture talks about putting to death the works of darkness through the spirit, in other words, replacing a life based on the senses with a life based on the truth. We shall see how to practically do this in the course of our conversations.
(YOU ARE AS CHRIST IS. Ephesians 2:13-16, Galatians 2:18-20)

HOW TO PRACTICALLY OPERATE IN GOD’S SHOES (PT. 70)

John 6:28-33, Romans 8:1-13, Exodus 25:17-22.

Let me say this here, the direction of our conversations at the moment will challenge a lot of the knowledge that you grew up with, about God and what it really means to be a child of God. It is necessary that this happens so that we can grow, and move away from a place of weakness to a place of strenght. I wish I could shield you from the pain of relearning, but I can’t. Christ is not coming back for a church that is weak, He is coming back for a church that is mature. So, please relax, just go back and look up each set of scriptures from each post and prayerfully study them, asking God to open your eyes of understanding to them.

Now, when man sinned in the beginning, God drove him out from the garden, into the outer parts of Eden, where man became subject to the same laws that ruled the earth. Whatever he accomplishes outside Eden would be by his own ability, in sorrow and sweat. It is no longer possible for man to eat from the garden that God planted, here man must exchange equal value for whatever he desires. That dwelling place, outside of Eden where man was chased out to, is the flesh. We have to understand that a whole lot of the Old Testament is a shadow, Eden is a shadow of the spirit of man and the dwelling outside of Eden where man was chased out to is a shadow of the flesh,; that life that is governed by the senses.

The flesh, or “natural sense life” is governed by the same laws that govern the earth, for both are dust. Whatever applies to the earth, also apply to sense life. For example; when you pour water on the earth, it will be absorbed into the dust of the earth and be used up, then the earth will become dry again. It cannot sustain water, it has to be watered again and again. In the same way, when you pour the water of God’s word into your life on earth, like when a revelation from God’s word comes to you, you will be ‘wet’ with the rhema of God’s word, and be feeling faith on the inside of you, but after some time, that faith begins to fade away as the water begins to be absorbed into the circumstances of life, and eventually you become dry again. That is why meditation is crucially necessary, you cannot walk in faith if you do not water your life over and over.

The water that waters the physical earth comes from the heavens, or what we also call the sky. The water of God’s word that waters your life comes from the spiritual heavens, which is your spirit, for out of your belly shall flow streams of living water. The streams that went out from Eden to water the earth is a shadow of the streams of living water that flows from our belly(spirit) to water our lives on earth. We can only live on this earth as God intends for us to live if our earthly lives are watered by the water of God’s word that flow from our spirit. That is why the scripture says that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of The Lord. In the course of our conversations we will see that the mouth of The Lord speaks from within our spirit, where God fellowships with us.
(YOU ARE AS CHRIST IS. Ephesians 2:13-16, Galatians 2:18-20)
