In Part 27 of this conversation we ended by saying that the planting of the seed of righteousness, or the conception of God’s will in the human spirit en route to becoming reality upon the earth, happens when we take four definite steps inspired by an initiating first action by God. God initiates a reality He wants upon the earth when we HEAR HIS WORD about it, then we BELEIVE it by faith, and SPEAK it out upon the earth, ACT upon that word, the initial action being thanksgiving to God, and then we complete the cycle by REJOICING before The Lord.

Ok, let’s go back to our previous discussion of the four situations the word of God faces in the hearts of men. We are on the second, the rocky situation.

Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. (Luke 8:6, 13 NKJV).

Now, unlike the wayside situation, the people here did trap the word with faith at least, but they may or may not have followed through the whole steps of spiritual conception, this is where spiritual abortions begin. The medical profession has it on record that most, about 75% of all miscarriages happen within the first trimester. This is the period closest to conception. The period closest to the point at which the word fertilizes our faith to produce the embryo form of righteousness or reality is the most vulnerable for that righteous seed in us.

This is the point at which ‘Natural Selection’ begins. But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. (Matthew 13:20, 21 NKJV). Notice that the scripture says that the tribulation and persecution(trials and testing) will come “because of the word”! I’ll leave you to meditate on that for now, tomorrow we’ll trace the ‘Natural Selection’ thing through the scriptures.
