In the past few conversations we’ve been searching out how to make sure that the seed of righteousness germinates to become righteousness in our hearts when it is sown. We saw that if one does not die to oneself, and give up ones own will first before the will of God is made known, that ones heart will throw the will of God aside and the enemy will steal it from ones life. This means that the will of God for that particular issue in that persons life will not manifest.

Thus says the Lord : “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited. (Jeremiah 17:5, 6 NKJV)

What this scripture is saying is that when people depend on that which is human, be it of themselves or of other people and not on God, they sufficiently equip themselves to fail and remain unsatisfied in life, to the extent that they cannot recognise what is best for them even when it is starring them in the face. They just can’t see the treasures contained in the will of God for them when it is shown to them.

Listening to self is the first thing that stops you even before you begin to get divine results on the earth. This is the problem with those whose heart is like the wayside. They are alive to self, and dead to the will of God. The will of God, the very raw material that will produce the fulfilling reality for them is considered worthless by their hearts because they still listen to their own heart. And then the enemy comes immediately and steals it away, and the birth of that reality never begins, because it was never conceived.

Do you want your life to be characterised by exploits? Then give up trying to live up to people’s expectations, give up your petty ideas and plans, dump your little mind and recognise the superior quality of the will of God at work in the universe.
