IN HONOUR OF THE FAMILY.

Concerning my last post “THIS IS GOD”, I feel the need to mitigate against a possible misunderstanding. This will take us off our main concern which is the mystery of godliness but, I believe it is necessary to leave no room for misunderstanding. I think a statement I made may need to have a little flesh added to it. It’s too “bony” the way it is and someone may “choke” on it. So, just for one day, let’s deviate a little bit.

I am concerned about the brief comment I made about “every healthy family.” My attention was drawn to the fact that it may appear as though it is lawful for a man to “lord” over his wife, seeing that he is like The Father and his words like The Word. That understanding would be wrong, absolutely wrong and unfounded.

The Father never “lords” it over The Word nor does He “lord” it over The Spirit. He said, “let us make man.” That connotes two things; first it connotes partnership between the three, which is wilful agreement. Secondly, it connotes something else very subtle but insightful, the product or result of their partnership would bear a perfect resemblance to the qualities of all three. “Let us make man in OUR IMAGE and after OUR LIKENESS. They were going to achieve something that is true to the three of them while playing different roles in the process. Let’s note this once and for all, “the thing about the three of them is a matter of roles and responsibilities, not a matter of superiority.” So also between the man, his words and his wife.

The picture that the scripture paints of a “healthy family” is one in which the man listens to the “heart” of his wife, the wife listens to the “will” of her husband. A man’s world must be big enough for his wife to live in without feeling squeezed-in, his dreams big enough to make room for personal fulfilment for the wife too. The man gives voice to the agreement he has reached with his wife, and also to what is best for the family. The man does not lead out of a sense of “authority”, he leads out of a sense of love and responsibility. The woman does not submit out of a sense of necessity, she submits out of a sense of love and trust.

We must realise that the way a husband and wife behave toward each other is different from their roles and responsibilities in the family. The man loves the woman with his very life. It means he will go to any length, do whatever it takes to make sure she is happy and fulfilled. Then the wife on her part will be submissive and have so much respect and reverence for him, an honour second only to the one she has for God. Here, unlike as it is when it comes to roles and responsibilities the man is like Christ and the wife is like the church. In all the labour of the man to provide for the family, all the show of courage to protect the family and all the air of confidence he carries to keep hope alive in the family amongst other things, ultimately he is showing how much he loves the family. The woman on the other hand, with all the personal sacrifices she makes in order to put the family first, which sometimes overwhelm her so much, yet in the face of all that, she is more concerned about the effect of her tears which can break the spirit of the family. So she cries in secret. In all that and much more, she is showing how much she trusts the man to know what to do. Men, listen to your wife’s heart. Women, listen to your husbands will.

My dears the more I write the more flows into me. However, the spirit of the prophet is under his control, so please pardon me to stop here. I sense that The Lord may allow us dwell on this more from the 1st to the 14th of February, 2014.
O LORD COME SOON.

THIS IS GOD.

The opportunity to participate in God which has been extended to man is indeed a mystery. Following the unveiling of this high calling through the pages of scripture inspires awe. It began with a simple but powerful statement; “let us make man in our own image.” The scripture makes it clear that concerning creation, God did not consult anyone but Himself. Therefore, we quickly conclude that the “us” could not be anybody but God Himself.

So, we recognise The Father, The Word and The Spirit. We see these three at work during creation. We know that the Father conceived the thought, the intention was His, it was His will to create. We observe that His intention was made known through the Word of His power. Hence, whatever He willed in His heart to do He gave substance by His Word. By this we understand that words are not just sounds, words are forerunners of reality. Words are spiritual pregnancies carrying manifestations. God will gaze into His own heart, see what He wills to do and then with words announce the entrance of His will into the earth. It is as the scriptures put it, He calls the things that are not yet earthly visible as if they already exist. Yes, indeed they already exist in His will.

Then we also see the Spirit of God brooding over the waters. It’s enlightening the particular word that was used to convey the activity of the Spirit during creation. A hen will lay her eggs, then she will gather them together under her belly and wings. These are parts of her body where there is very little feather, exposing the eggs to her body heat, thereby incubating the eggs. This activity continues till the content of the eggs fully form and hatch. Without the particular temperature at which the incubating activity maintain the eggs, they will never hatch. Though they contain within them everything required to bring a living chick into life, if the hen does not brood over them, they will not bring forth life.
Hence, it is the Spirit that makes available the perfect condition and necessary “arrangements” needed for the Word spoken By God to materialise.

So we conclude our session today with a summary, something seen clearly in the creation; if God wants it, He says it. If He says it, the Spirit gives it the necessary conditions for manifestation. The singer Sinach sang a song which goes, “the Word is a seed. When planted and watered it will come to pass.” That is so true. The Father is “the One who wants it to happen”, the Word is “the seed” that contains everything required for it to happen. The Spirit is “the Extraordinary Strategist” that makes it happen. In every healthy family, the man is like the Father, his words are like the Word and the wife is like the Spirit. Now you know why the man who finds a “real” wife has obtained favour from God.
So, this is God revealed in creation. Meditate on that for now.
O LORD COME SOON!

FIRST THINGS FIRST!

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power (Ephesians 1:17-19 NKJV)

The thing about mysteries is that they are mysteries. Once you solve a mystery it ceases to be a mystery, it exits the realm of mysteries and enters into the realm of facts and knowledge. And God is unsolvable! So, in delving deeper into this thing about godliness, have it established here and now that our intent is not to unravel God, far be it from me that I shall even conceive the thought to attempt such a ridiculous albeit insane feat.

Our goal is to appreciate the mystery, which has potential to ignite a certain insatiable but healthy curiosity that keeps the soul of man crying for more, hence setting the man off on an unending journey to the centre of light. The mystery of godliness goes so deep that a thousand lifetimes is but too insufficient a time to reach even the shores of this divine island. If you ever run into a truely transcendent man, a truly spiritual man, he will tell you, even at his death bed that he was just about to begin to discover God. Paul, so spiritual as he was, yet cried; that I may know Him.

The essence of a mystery, I mean what makes a mystery a mystery is not the appearance of secrecy, it’s the challenge of understanding. There’s no magic, no hocus-pocus in a mystery, only the limitation of understanding and the elusiveness of knowledge. The depth of the mystery about a thing is often a measure of the superiority of the mind that created or caused or conceived it to the minds trying to unravel it. The extent of development of Albert Einstein’s mind poses a superior wonder to the mind of the college student meddling with quantum physics. To the college kids mind it’s a mystery. But there’s nothing magical about that, just a limitation in understanding.

As long as God is God, and man is man, as the heavens are higher than the earth so are the truths about God higher than what our minds can fathom. God will forever remain a mystery to us. Even the most transcended of us all will be humbled and rendered stupid in an attempt to explain God. We can only be granted just enough revelation into the hidden things of God to be like Christ, the God-man, the embodiment of godliness. Even when we are filled to the brim with the spirit of revelation and understanding in the knowledge of God, we will only have enough access into these things to know but three things only:
1. What He requires of us, how he wants us to live, what he expects of us and the like.
2. The divine and spiritual value of these things God expects from us; how they all come together to give expression to Him as God.
3. The resources that has been made available by Him to us, both those that work within us and those that manifest outwardly from us for the accomplishment and realisation of these expectations.

YOU ARE LITERALLY CHRIST.

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory. (I Timothy 3:16 NKJV)

You are gods. Two days ago we reminded ourselves of the change in the order of things in and around us, which arises from the fact that we’ve become something new, something identical to Christ. Infact, we are persuaded, both by faith and by internal witnessing within us that we are no longer us: we are now Him. We have been consequentially advised by scripture to “put on Christ”, having put off the old man. So, we consciously with practical effort wear the personality, excercise the nature of, and operate in the potential of Christ.

After all, He did say to us that we will get to do much more than He did. He did also say that the conditions of our existence from the day we met Him became exactly the same with the reality He represented while He was here in the flesh. All that is revealed of Him is also true of us. All the attributes of God revealed in Christ are all true of us. Only those that are not revealed to us are not true of us. The hidden things belong to God, but the revealed things are for us. This is why, even of the revealed things, one never gets to operate in the reality of them until one becomes personally aware of them. To operate in godliness, we must realise this fundamental truth; REVELATION IS NOT GENERAL, IT IS PERSONAL. It means that, in order to get results in the things of Christ, the knowledge you work with has to go beyond just what your religious order believes, or what your pastor says, or what you read, to what the Spirit has made real to you in your spirit. You get here through consistent study of God’s word, meditation on the word and prayer. General revelations drive conventional religion, not true spirituality.

Now this does not mean that we can go off on our own to and come up with “revelations” out of nowhere, no, it must be from the logos, the written word of God. What we are saying is that for you to effectively operate in the way the logos claims you can, there must come that defining moment when you say “Hmmm! I can see it now, I get it now.” It’s that moment when your heart feels like it doesn’t need faith to know that “this thing” is true. That moment when you embrace the particular scripture with your whole being. You just feel like you are this, like you can do this, like you can get this result it’s talking about.

That is the point after which you must guard your heart with all diligence, and watch out for those evil birds that come to pick out the word from the field of your heart. Because what you just received is a part of God into you, and the enemy will do anything to take it out of you again before you can use it and own it forever. What you do at this point is to act on the word. confess it, then act on it. Once you use it, it becomes yours forever. That is why you need to be doers of the word and not just hearers only. Hearers get nothing, only doers get more and more of God into themselves.

I tell you, being a Christian is the best thing that can happen to you! You get to become God little by little, line upon line, precept upon precept. Every morning more of you die to give way to more of Christ. We are being changed into His image and likeness, the more we look at this mirror called the word of God, and see clearer and clearer what He is like, which is also what we are really like in the spirit, if we just keep imitating what we see, we are being turned practically into Christ.
Paul declares; without debate, the mystery of godliness is great. And I know we agree with him. Tomorrow we begin to delve deeper into this mystery.
O LORD COME SOON.

THINGS HAVE CHANGED.

These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. (I Timothy 3:14, 15 NKJV)

When in Rome do as the Romans do. When you walk across a solid and non-slippery floor, the position of the body in relation to the legs is normal and your weight is spread between both legs for support. That’s how humans walk; upright. But when you walk across a slippery or icy surface, you have to walk like a penguin if you don’t want to fall. You have to lean slightly to the front so that your weight rests on your front facing leg alone, and spread out your arms to your side like you are about to fly. The same human being, different posture. Why?

The reason is simple, every environment has its own unique features, operators that redefine reality within that environment. What you wear to keep warm in Nigeria is different from what you wear to keep warm in the UK. Kissing a fellow man on the cheek on the streets of New York may mean a completely different thing from what it means in Tel Aviv. Inside your bedroom you can afford to walk around in your lingerie. Try that in the office and you may be standing before a judge for sexual harassment charges if not declared insane. The environment you find yourself in, to some extent changes the rules.

Paul brings this home by the Spirit to the church. There is a way to conduct oneself as part of the church. There is a way to live as a Christian. There is a unique style and pattern to which we need to adhere to, just for the reason that we are now the people of God. Our reality has been redefined by the new environment we have been brought into; the kingdom of light, the presence of God. Here, our lives can no longer continue as usual. Things have changed, we must think differently, talk differently and act accordingly. The bible elaborates on that. Go read it!

You see, we are now walking on the ground of truth. We are living under a reality that supports truth. So, we are in the environment of truth, the reality around us is that of truth. Therefore, me must always turn to the truth for guidance and direction on all matters relating to life. The truth, the written word now redefines our reality, just like walking can be redefined by a slippery surface. If you seek answers and direction from the natural world alone, you will produce results that are only natural and get stuck where the natural ceases to be helpful. If you look to truth you will have a super natural experience all through life. Let the Word be your compass, your counsellor, your consultant and your life coach. And let it confirm every other source that has the capacity to provide such value for you.
