However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. (I Timothy 1:16, 17 NKJV)
People change; God makes it happen. Clearly God has demonstrated to us how merciful and gracious, patient and forgiving He is, and how He is always looking for the best in us.
Paul’s life is a clear story of how opposed one can get against God, how far one can go down the road of enmity against God and an evidence of how willing God is to not count all our evil and foolishness against us while patiently wooing us to repentance.
Christ came not to count people’s sins against them, He came to cut their sins off of them and set them free to be and do good for the rest of their blessed lives.
It is amazing when you think about it; how much good God will achieve on earth tomorrow through the life of the man who is destroying it today, how much positive impact He will spread over many lives tomorrow through the life of one man who is today affecting the world negatively, how He will tomorrow use that no-good rejected write-off of today to bring so much hope and joy to the same society that suffered in his hands.
It is really amazing what love achieves through patience and persistence. We as children of the most high must be like Him. We must see the best in people no matter how bad they are right now, we must truly believe in the power of the gospel to transform people. Then we must in love, through much patience and persistence seek to see men change in Christ.
We must trust and celebrate God’s wisdom.
O LORD COME SOON.
